I finished my latest piece, titled GIVE THANKS!
It was so much fun to do this one because I was able to use some of the craft yard sale finds that I bought a few posts ago!
I tilted the painting a bit so you could see the shine of the gold...
I put little coppery-gold beads from my previous yard sale finds at the base of her dress. This burner was in the box with the wood burning set. At first I wasn't sure what it was used for, as it's originally used to keep coffee warm. I put the little metal cup that was also in the box on it and used just a few pellets of the beeswax that was a part of my yard sale find...it melted it perfectly! I thought maybe this is the poor-mans version of an encaustic wax melting pallet! Then I spread the wax along the bottom of the painting and used my wood burning tool, attached the letter tips and burned into the wax. Luckily I had two wood burning tools in the box...it took a little while for them to cool down enough to put the next letters that I needed in the stylus. She thought of everything!
I then went over the letters with gold paint and painted over the whole wax area with brown.
I really love how it turned out!
This was my inspiration piece...she spoke to me and said "paint me!".
