MY LATEST FIND AND A BIT OF ART...

I wanted to show you my latest "find"!  We had a first ever community wide yard sale in our town.  I went out late just to a few, because early morning I was with my daughter who is in 4-H and showing her horse at the county fair.

I bought this for $5!  Yes, it has warped and cracked veneers, but I thought that it would be great to hold art supplies...I could try and sand or clean up the veneers as much as possible...but, I thought that for five bucks, I would just leave it as is right now.  I even like the painted top-it looks very french and looks great in my art room!

It prompted me to rearrange things and clean up (just a bit).  What do you think?
I hold my big jars of mediums etc. in the cabinet, as well as papers that I use for mixed media art.  You can see a bit of a piece I'm working on, on my easel.  It's been a slow work in progress because of my kid taxi service I do on the side.

This is a print I found at another yard sale that I thought was beautiful.  I need to find a frame for it.  It was $3 and is by Albert Anker.  It is so great to discover new-old artists.  He was a fabulous swiss artist from that lived from 1833-1910.  Here is a link to google images of Albert Anker.  Maybe he will inspire you too.

Thought I'd show you an oil painting I did in a portrait painting class at Art Center in Pasadena, California about 20ish years ago.  We were supposed to take a part of a master painter's painting (Renoir in this case) and copy it.  I kept it all these years-still like it-I guess because I like Renoir so much.

Oh my, I'm speechless (never happens LOL) - I'm in awe of your artwork WOW. In addition I'm pea green with envy at your "find"...I gave up doing yard sales and such as never find anything even close to this. I LOVE the character of it and wouldn't change a thing. Enjoy... http://www.designsbylindar.blogspot.com Fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/#!/pages/Me-Myself-and-You/105043419547115

Nice one! It looks so comfortable within your creative space too. Sometimes I miss those "nice & clean" indoor studios as I always in the opposite situation in a shed with clay = dirty and dusty.... hey ho. Thank you for showing us xm

Wow, what a great find! I wish we had those kind of things around these parts ~ you'd have to pay hundreds for that here! And I love it just the way it is, I wouldn't touch it up at all! :) I love your painting too...I think I remember seeing it before? I'm happy to see that you've kept some of your early works, I remember looking through them in Nana's garage when I was little and dreaming of being able to create such masterpieces when I grew up! (I'd love to see more of them!) Thank you for sharing, love your blog Auntie Lori... xox
