and then, of course, there was all the tweaking...even after I thought I was done. Even after I was putting it on the blog! The image goes on the screen, and I think...I didn't see that! Now I have to tweak it yet again!
I used two master paintings as inspiration...and kind of melded them together. Let me know what you think!

Beautiful! And great job on the hands--hands are so hard to paint and draw. The colors are gorgeous--so rich and deep. I can very clearly see the masters' influences.
Beautiful! I am impressed with the folds and figure proportions - such a hard thing to get right. and you nailed it!
Lori, it looks soo beautiful! I really love it ~ it makes me feel calm looking at it. Loving the colors and everything detail of it. Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!

so lovely & sweet...love the thought, the mother pointing her child to the holy land...home is where the heart is
I am sitting here choked up...such a moving portrait of what a mama does-I LOVE IT!
Stunning--You have such a talent!! The images on the computer screen, I think, is a great art tool, because you get a different view of your piece, before you "think" you're finished. It's like looking at it with a fresh eye.
It is beautiful. I love it. I know what you mean about seeing things when you put them on your computer. Why don't we see them before that? It's almost like a different set of eyes.
Wow, this is really a beautiful painting! Great imagery!
I love this painting, Lori. The sweet connection and energy between the mother and the child goes straight to the heart. This is so precious!
I have enjoyed following you on facebook and I will enjoy following you here on your blog.

I forgot to add that I love the heart-shape in the folds of the mother's dress! I love hearts.

It's beautiful. It says so much in the gentle touch of the mother...
Hi, I found your blog through "The Blog Hop". What a lovely painting. As a mother it touched me, a reminder of leading and guiding my two daughters. The little girl seems to be pointing too, following her mother's example. Beautiful.
Blessings
I am touched by all of your beautiful comments! Thank you so much!
